A major artery wound can cause the victim to go unconscious in two minutes and bleed out seconds later. If life saving devices like pressure cuffs or tourniquets are available the question becomes how do you locate and apply them to yourself, or your team members, in these critical few seconds.
The Blackhawk Integrated Tourniquet System (I.T.S.) integrates four tourniquets in the pants and four tourniquets in the shirt. They are correctly positioned and oriented to the upper and lower extremities for immediate access under existing gear and can be operated by the wearer, a buddy, or a medic.
